Semax is a heptapeptide, synthetic analog of an ACTH(4-10) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone. Semax inhibits enzymes involved in the degradation of enkephalins and other endogenous regulatory peptides.

Semax is a nootropic drug from the group of neuropeptides. The peptide sequence is based on seven amino acid residues: Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro.
